After 945 journal entries, I'm finally putting this thing to rest. OHMYGOD TOBY CHAN GIVING UP ON LIVEJOURNAL!?
No.
Beth and I have a new one. It's compact, i.e. you no longer have to deal with reading the same thing twice. It's all right here: soft_pyramids
And no, this does not mean I'm gonna stop talking shit.

Bauhaus - "She's in Parties" |
] |
Argh. Headache.
I still can't get over how much fun last night was, or the fact that Beth is the greatest woman alive.
We went to Portsmouth today and did some "shopping". Holy shit, come next Monday you are all gonna shit your pants with disbelief.
I'm making a list of what I need to/plan on buy(ing) in the next two months to complete my musical set-up.
- new hi-hat stand (mine got stolen). - new hi-hats (mine got stolen). - a second cymbal stand for my new crash. - Ampeg 2x15 SVT cabinet. - Ampeg SVT-350H head. - a small PA.
Once I have this shit, both Lost in Pictures and Night Moves will be solid!

By the way...
While my baby is sleeping for a "little second", I figured I'd write about her. As if I wasn't head over heels for this girl before... last night just... blew my mind. I am hooked for good. No matter how drunk I was, who I was talking to or what I was doing, be it pissing on somebody's coat or playing drums, I could not get her out of my mind. Beth 24/7, all night, non stop. The fact that I know I was in her head the entire time too just makes it better. Seeing the love of my life shake her little ass to my band was honestly the highlight of my entire life. Nothing can ever top that. It sounds fucking hokey, I know, but it's true.
I've spent 21 years preparing for the moment I'd meet her and I can't say I've ever been more ready. This priceless, beautiful, ever-lasting love we've created already can only grow to become more and more wonderful, day after day after day.
I have the most brilliant woman in the world. I went from nothing to everything and I owe it all to her. Where I am right now, the smile on my face, the love smashing my veins to pieces... all hers. I fucking give everything I will ever have from here on out to her as a half-assed sign of thanks, because I can never, ever, under no circumstances, give her back what she has given to me.
Hey... life makes sense now.

I think Beth's last post could sum up my evening but fuck, I'm writing about it anyway.
First off, I was piss drunk from noon till midnight, and that's quite the feat. Old English 800 + Barcardi Razz + Barcardi 151 + Pabst Blue Ribbon + whatever people placed in my hand throughout the night = shitfaced Toby Chan. Add to that a shitfaced Beth, all my greatest friends, bands who whether I loved them or not all played great and you have a fucking incredible evening. Seriously, best show of my life.
Giant fucking Bat destroyed! Kid's did not know what to think. It was fucking sonic mayhem from the first second onward. Sean, Julian and Owen are just exactly what this area needs. Distorted loops, spastic drumming, Moog and piano keys smashed in with skinny fingers. Top that off with ridiculous masks and you have Giant Bat. They were so loud they had kids moving... toward the door.
The Network is NOT my thing, but fuck this band went off. What a fun set. Straight up energy from start to finish. One of those bands that flips out so perfectly and moves to the music just right, you almost think it's rehearsed. Fuck, maybe it is!
The Filth got kids moving around. Punk fucking rock. They even did a Minor Threat cover if I can remember, but I was drunk. Somehow I knew the words though, so it must have been. Argh.
Highway Child sounded cool from across the room. Fuzzed-out retro rock. None of that garage shit, though. More in line with Sabbath and Cream.
We played pretty good, considering I usually have no idea how to play drums even when sober. We turned off all the lights and used our red bulbs to illuminate the basement. It was spooky as fuck but kids dug it. By the last song, we had everyone up all over us in one big gothic dance party. It honestly was so much fun, I've never felt this good in any band ever. Just kids we barely know and kids we love to death taking their crossed arms and putting them in the air and just going off. I smashed all my drums and broke my snare. We also found out someone stole our high hats and stand from the night before. I could care less, but I know once we practice it's gonna kick in.
Birth Rites was fucking nuts. Kids just went off and kept the party going. The Lost in Pictures-Birth Rites block of the night was just kids dancing, non-stop, even without music. So many drunk, stupid faces just fucking it up with a low ceiling and trash all over the floor. This band has become my favorite people in just two days. I fucking love them. I think tonight a scene really has gone into formation and the basis behind it is not breakdowns, blast beats or gurgles. It's so many different styles and just straight up love represented from start to finish. "Balls on Toast" is my favorite song of 2004. I totally got down with my lady and flew around and fucking went off while they destroyed that basement. Night Moves busted out "Fast Times at Columbine High" in the middle of their set and it was a blast. Then it was back to the Rites for the rest of the set and unplugged chords, pedals going off, etc. didnt stop shit. THIS IS HOW EVERY SHOW SHOULD BE.
Bravo Fucking Bravo was fun too. I threw popcorn at them and tried to dance, but at this point I was a bit too fucked up. Still, it was great that they made the drive down to play for a bunch of intoxicated assholes.
Beth, Jonathon, Fife, Owen, Sean, Charles, Nicole, Bethany, Derek, Julian, Sondra, blahy balbha blah! Made my night incredible! Holy fuck! Toby Chan being positive!?
